These stairs are the new access from the main house to the backyard.
50 Green Building Program Points for the Project:
- Salvaged and reused lumber from deck for new sunshades to reduce overheating of spaces.
- 25% recycled fly ash incorporated into concrete slab mix.
- Installation of breathable corrugated housewrap under stucco, to serve as a drainage plane. This combats mold and is part of a vapor permeable wall system.
- Faucets and shower heads are low flow.
- Light fixtures are compact fluorescent or on lighting controls.
- Ceiling fans instead of air conditioning
- Recycled Content fiberglass insulation is formaldehyde-free.
- Ceiling / roof is insulated to over R-30.
- Wood flooring installed over rigid insulation over concrete slab, for comfort and mold prevention.
- Cool Roof meets California Roof Rating Council requirements for PG&E rebate.
- Long span beams use engineer lumber instead of old growth lumber.
- Lumber from FSC certified from sustainably managed forests.
- Interior plywood is formaldehyde-free.
- Interior paints, varnishes and adhesives are no or low-VOC.
- All windows and skylights are Energy Star, Low E II double glazed, wood frame.
- New heating ducts are insulated, sealed with mastic, and inspected, balanced and tested for air leakage.
